Fall Campout 2025: Fun with Pack 870 at Chatfield State Park

Pack 620 joined up with Pack 870 at Chatfield for an overnight camping trip from Saturday, Sept. 27 through Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025. The Packs got together to host a raingutter regatta and an afternoon of fun Scouting activities before breaking off to host their own campout dinners and campfires.

Scouts Blew the Boats Down in the Raingutter Regatta!

Our Scouts and Scouts from Pack 870 had a blast at the raingutter regatta on Saturday, September 27, 2025. Scouts built their boats out of recycled materials, using their creativity and thriftiness. The Scouts then engaged in a fierce air-powered assault, using straws to blast their vessels down the gutters and across the finish line. The Scouts earned coveted Golden Rubber Duckies for their efforts! Looking forward to next year’s regatta.

🪢 Scout Game Fest and Ice Cream! 🍦🍦

Scouts from Pack 620 and Pack 870 enjoyed Scout skills and thrills Saturday afternoon as they participated in a variety of games. Tug of war, ring toss and knot tying… but the highlight of the afternoon was making ice cream in a bag! Pack 870 generously shared their treasured recipe with us. With a dash of salt, a little science, and some vigorous shaking, Pack 620 mastered the art of making ice cream in a bag—and it was a sweet game-changer. I have a feeling our dessert menu is about to expand significantly.

Taco ‘bout a Great Dinner!

Saturday dinner was tacos, nachos and quesadillas. Everyone got to make their own delicious combination of meat, cheese, or vegetables. Our grillmasters were hard at work grilling chicken and vegetables and keeping the food warm. The Pack also enjoyed salad and watermelon. So delicious!

A big thank you to all the parent volunteers that helped make this fall campout a huge success!

A huge thanks to all the older siblings of our Scouts who also helped out in numerous ways. You all embody the very best of Scouting.
