WE’RE LAUNCHING BOTTLE ROCKETS!

Who needs fire when you have science? H2O + Air = Rocket Launch!

Join us for some high pressure fun on Sunday afternoon as we launch bottle rockets intro the stratosphere.

Scouts are asked to create their own bottle rocket before launch day. Links to videos with instructions for building your own bottle rockets are provided below. We also have some guidelines on materials that can’t be used so we can keep everyone safe. Please read over the list carefully when helping your Scout build their bottle rocket.

BOTTLE ROCKET AWARDS

Don’t let gravity hold down your creativity! We’re handing out awards for the most excellent designs in the Pack’s rocket fleet—fuel your best ideas and launch for the stars! The awards include:

• The Golden Bottle Award: Fan Favorite

• Rocket Scientist Award: Most realistic looking bottle rocket

• Sky High Award: Bottle rocket that reaches the highest altitude (best guess)

• Defier of Gravity Award: Bottle rocket that stays in the air the longest (best guess)

• The Artemis Award: Bottle rocket that looks like it belongs in space

• Rainbow Rocket Award: Most artistic and vibrant design on a rocket

• Galactic Oddity Award: Most humorous, alien, wacky bottle rocket design

• The “Oops” Award (Best Crash Landing): Most dramatic or unexpected flight result

DO NOT USE THE FOLLOWING MATERIALS ON YOUR BOTTLE ROCKET:

• Glass Bottles
• Metallic Parts
• Plastic bottles that can burst under pressure – 2 liter water bottles and bottles that are old or brittle (sat out in the sun) are at risk for bursting
• Acetone or strong solvents – these can weaken or disolve the plastic, also causing it to burst
